While Clothes Dryers are common household items, it is important to be aware of the dangers that exist when using them.
Clothes dryers use electrical heating elements or gas burners to provide the heat needed to dry the clothes. Hot air is blown through the clothes while they are spinning inside the drum, this evaporates the water in the clothing. The water vapor, as well as lint from the clothing leaves the drum through the dryer vent, this is a very important safety factor to consider, because if vents are not properly installed or managed, fires can easily start. Here are a few pointers to watch out for:
- Always make sure the Dryer Vent is properly connected to the dryer.
- Due to the flexible nature of the Dryer Vent, care should be taken to ensure that it isnt crushed in any area and that there are no kinks, which would prevent proper airflow and become a fire hazzard.
- Lint build up should be frequently checked as this poses a considerable fire hazzard
